Do you have a home that plan to put up for sale? You may have been told by fellow home sellers that selling your home during the upcoming winter time is an utter impossibility. Don’t get discouraged though, because although it may be difficult, it can definitely be done. Regardless if your Vancouver property is located in condos or near community centres, here are tips on how to make buyers take notice of it during a challenging season.
Keep the exterior clean
Remember that the snow outside can prevent interested buyers from viewing your home. Prepare your home exterior by shovelling and scraping you driveway thoroughly. Aside from removing the snow, this can also prevent ice from forming too quickly.
Keep the indoor temperature at comfortable levels
You’ve enticed a prospective buyer into your home, now you have to convince them to stay and have a look around. Your guests may or may not want to leave their heavy coats at the door, so set your temperature at a level depending on their preference. Remember that it can take a while to heat the house, so come a few hours early before showings and set the thermostat.
Keep rooms well lit
Be sure every room in the house has adequate lighting, including the attic and basement if you have them. Dark and dimly lit rooms are depressing as is, and even more so during the cold season. Also, it’s best to leave all the lights on before showings so your guests wouldn’t be fumbling for light switches. If you want to save energy, you can use timers for your lights.
Protect your floors from dirt and the elements
While inside your home, potential buyers could spread slush and mud on their footwear all over your floors, so take measures to protect your flooring. Put a mat at the front entrance both inside and outside the doorstep to absorb moisture. You can also put a sign at the front entrance asking people to wipe their shoes thoroughly on the mats.
