East Vancouver, or East Van as it’s colloquially known, has seen a growth in independent commercial ventures in the last few decades that makes that part of the city one of the most exciting and interesting places to begin hunting for real estate. From micro-breweries serving up their unique styles of ale and independent clothing stores servicing the stylish populace to any of the bustling night spots found on Commercial Drive and further afield, East Van is full of surprises and reasons to relocate.
East Van Environs
East Van runs east of Cambie Street through to about Boundary Road, and from the edge of Railtown all the way out to 41st Avenue. It’s a huge area and it can be difficult to sum up in simple terms. Instead, it’s worth looking at some of the key spots and what they offer the prospective home owner in terms of travel links and amenities.
Living on Main Street gives you access to all sorts of great eateries and shopping opportunities as well as offering probably the best transport links in East Van. From here you can get anywhere from Downtown to Kitsilano in less than half an hour.
Commercial Drive is slightly deeper into East Van than Main Street, but still with great metro links to anywhere else in the Greater Vancouver Area. Moving here gives you more great access to independent eateries and bars, as well as a host of great parks, community centres, and schools.
Much more towards the heart of East Van, the areas around the Renfrew Skytrain station provide excellent opportunities for affordable housing as well as all the local amenities you may need. Metro links are fantastic although drivers will have a longer commute to Downtown.
East Van Real Estate
With such a large area to cover it’s difficult to pin down prices but you can be sure that anywhere east of Cambie is going to be cheaper than West Vancouver and Downtown. The further in you go the cheaper things get and with excellent transit links there’s no reason not to explore.
